Education LLC Partnership with Every Afternoon Matters

This partnership between the Baylor University Education LLC, Every Afternoon Matters Project, and Waco-ISD will look like a course that the residents of the LLC will take in their second semester freshman year. This course: CCS 2301 - Leadership and Social Change.

In this course the students will be assigned a school in the Waco-ISD district that does not already have an afterschool program in place. These students will go to these schools 3 times a week after school and mentor and facilitate and afterschool program with a group of kids that the school can pick out for the program. For the program the students will need to come up with grade appropriate curriculum that is both educational and fun for the kids, and a lesson plan with different activities they will use in the program. Before each class period the students will send these plans into their professor for them to check and make sure they are prepared for the day and are appropriate for the program. There will also be check in's between the student and professor throughout the semester: wehre the student will sit down with the professor one-on-one and go over his or her's mentee's progress in the program. At the end of the semester the students will give a presentation on what they learned from the program, what work they helped thier mentees with and how much their mentee improved throughout the course of the program. This will go on each semester to give consistency to the schools participating and residents within the LLC.
